We're Beachcomber, a four-piece indie band hailing from Sheffield's Kelham Island. Combining wistful vocals with dreamy, chorused guitars, driving bass and crashing drums, our washed-out sound contrasts starkly against the post-industrial backdrop of our adopted hometown.
We've been making waves within Sheffield’s music scene since 2018, playing at key venues across the city and supporting fellow indie-pop outfits Beach Baby, High Hazels and October Drift. Our most recent show at The Leadmill saw us support Toploader, signifying our growing popularity and broad appeal.
Our first EP, "A Sea Above", was released on 11th March and has already seen more than 2,500 plays and over 150 monthly listeners. Recorded and engineered by David Glover (Slow Club, Self Esteem), it explores themes such as self-redemption and the simple pleasure of getting away from it all.
An accompanying music video for the EP's lead single, "Deep Blue", was released on Youtube on 25th March, with its colourful imagery perfectly accompanying the track's sunny sound and underlying motif of finding joy in unexpected places.
In the wake of The Leadmill's heartbreaking announcement of their potential closure, we implored our fanbase to petition against it and took to the airwaves to defend the venue we hold dear to us. In a feature by Sky News, we spoke of The Leadmill's long history and the devastating effect it's absence would have on our city's music scene.
We're always looking to bring our sound to new people, and with our growing social media presence and exposure on national television, we're ready to take on the next challenge and play to bigger audiences.
